Novitiate
Profession
The School of Life is a time of discernment, during which young women desiring to discover the sisters’ life may come and live with them for a period. It is a time for growing in their theological life of faith, hope, and charity, entering more profoundly into the Word of God, and learning about the different aspects of monastic life. Young women receive spiritual direction to accompany them in their discernment and to foster spiritual growth.
After ten months to two years at the School of Life, a young woman may ask to enter the Novitiate. Upon acceptance, she will continue her formation and discernment as a Novice and officially join the community as a sister. Approximately six months after her entry, she will have her Investiture, during which she will receive the Monastic Habit and a new name. The Novitiate typically lasts between 2.5 to 3 years.
Upon the conclusion of the Novitiate, the period of temporary vows commences with Simple Profession, during which the sister professes Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience for a duration of three years. Following this period, she will renew her vows for an additional two years. Then, the sister may request to make her perpetual profession.
dear young people, I encourage you to cultivate your personal relationship with God through daily prayer and meditation on the Word. Pause, listen and entrust yourselves. In this way, the gift of your vocation will mature, bringing you happiness and yielding abundant fruit for the Church and the world.
